Ontario Prospect Challenge profile: St. Joe’s Mboko has something to prove

Today CFC features Ontario Prospect Challenge participant Esaie Mboko.

Position: Slot Receiver

Height/Weight: 5’9”/165lbs

School status as of September 2013: Grade 13

Current Team: St. Joseph’s Rams

This will be the first year of the highly anticipated Ontario Prospect Challenge, sponsored by CFC. It is an exciting series of tryouts that will lead up to an All-Star game that will promote football among all ages in Ontario. One of this year’s participants, Esaie Mboko, is excited about the upcoming events.

“I feel like only a handful of kids who get recruited by all the universities in Canada,” Says Mboko. “But, the Ontario Prospect Challenge is giving every athlete a fair shot to show some of the best coaches in Canada what they’ve got to offer.”

Mboko knows the importance of playing well when it matters, but has not been able to impress university recruiters as much as he had hoped. “I’ve always been underestimated by many people. I’ve been told I was not tall enough, but I’m a big hearted guy. It bothers me a lot knowing that there are coaches who have looked right past me.”

“My goal for the Ontario Prospect Challenge is to perform better than any player out there. I want to show the universities who don’t talk to me, or have stopped talking to me that they have made a big mistake.”

Mboko is not the only player participating that is eager to impress some of the best coaches Canadian football has to offer. Many will take advantage of this opportunity in hopes of changing their post-secondary football career for the better.

Tryouts (Phase 1) for the Ontario Prospect Challenge begin September 21st.  A ‘one-time’ tryout fee allows you to compete in as many tryouts as you wish.   CLICK HERE for registration information.
