Jacob Young got his football start in the sixth grade for the Trent Hills Titans in the Belleville Minor Football League, where he was the smallest player on the team and did not get much field time.

ā€œI think my coaches were worried I would get hurt,ā€ said Young, who started out at cornerback and caught his first interception.

This resulted in his coaches switched him to wide receiver because of his speed, and continued to play for the Titans for three years.

Young is now in his second year of high school and plays for the Campbellford Flames of the Central Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (COSSA).

The wide receiver also played in the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) for the Peterborough Wolverines this past season, and is looking forward to trying out next season.

During the off season Young plays rep-level hockey in Campbellford, goes for daily jogs to keep in shape and attends any fitness camps in his area.

ā€œMy goal would be to make the 2015 Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) team and have the opportunity to work/play with such great athletes and improve my game,ā€ explains the Flame, who would also like to make the CFC Top 100 list.

The wide receiver loves to play football because it is a team sport.

ā€œOne player can not win the game, it takes a team!ā€ adds Young. ā€œItā€™s an aggressive and very fast paced sport and can change so fast and I love that.ā€
