Ontario Prospect Challenge: Marchant’s “VARSITY” game recap

The final game on the ONTARIO PROSPECT CHALLENGE slate for 2014 was the showcase  MARCHANTS “Varsity” Game. With a 7:30pm kickoff time the temperature started to drop but the action stayed as heated as ever on the field. In a back and forth affair which saw team central jump out to a 15-5, the tide was essentially turned by the play of defensive MVP #21 Johnny Abele a 5’8″ 165 lb db out of Hamilton. Abele led the way with an interception and an onside kick recovery, the latter spurring the West teams comeback.

Offensively Brandon Solanki a wide receiver out of St. Francis in Niagara jumped out to take the honours as he had several big catches including a third quarter td reception which tied it up at 15-15. The Central team had a few key moments of their own including a pick six by LB #54 Tyler Grymek-Nifo and some stellar running by RB Trey Campbell #7.
