Ontario recruit thrilled about opportunity with McMaster (VIDEO)

Haliburton wide receiver joins OUA team’s 2016 class.

It was a major but thrilling week for Kyle Lavergne.

First, the 5’10, 165 pound receiver from Haliburton, Ontario got the call that he will be representing his province as a member of Team Ontario at the upcoming International Bowl in Arlington, Texas.

A few days later, Lavergne decided to commit to McMaster and will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.

“I chose McMaster over other schools because of its success as a football program and its school is one of the best in Ontario,” commented the wide receiver of his commitment.  “Not only that, but when I attended McMaster for my visit I felt a connection between the coaches that I didn’t feel elsewhere.”

“The campus itself I loved as well.  I’m so excited to go to school and play football at Mac and can’t wait to see what the next four to five years brings.”

Moreover, Lavergne hopes to continue to become part of a successive tradition of receivers to have made the Marauders their CIS home.

“A lot of good receivers come out of McMaster,” added the offensive standout.  “I’m really looking forward to working with Coach [Jon] Behie, Coach [Al] Annonech and Coach [Stefan] Ptasek.”

“Their football program is phenomenal and I’m excited to have the opportunity to join this group of guys.”

Among the teams Lavergne has suited up for include the Peterborough Wolverines of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) and Haliburton Red Hawks of the Central Ontario Secondary School Athletics (COSSA).
