Oregon All-State QB commits to Stingers

Danial White, an All-State quarterback from Oregon has committed to the Concordia Stingers football team and will study in the university’s Civil Engineering program.

β€œI’m going to get an amazing degree and play high-level football,” White said of his choice to cross the continent in pursuit of his university experience. β€œThis is the best opportunity to set me up for the future and everything I want to achieve.”

Stinger head coach Mickey Donovan is thrilled to have such a strong academic and talented athlete join the family.

β€œI’m excited to have Danial coming to Concordia,” he said. β€œHe’s a very bright student with a GPA of 3.6 coming out of high school. He’s definitely coming to Concordia for Engineering and what the program has to offer.

β€œI think he’s going to be a great leader and take this program in a different direction both on and off the field.”

With the Ashland High School Grizzlies, White played 13 games in 2013. He completed 162 of 274 passes for 2265 yards, 26 touchdowns and just four interceptions.

He also ran the ball 87 times for 765 yards and 13 TDs.

The Grizzlies were conference champions and White took them to the state semifinals.

The six-foot, 190-pound captain was a three-year starter with Ashland High School. His career totals for passing are 402 of 665 attempts for 4949 yards, 47 majors and 20 interceptions. He shattered passing records at his high school.

Carrying the ball, he collected 2220 yards and 38 touchdowns on 315 carries.

White is also an accomplished track athlete and runs a 4.64 40-time.

β€œDanial wants to play football in a place where there’s a lot of opportunity to throw the ball,” Donavan said. β€œHe’s a guy that’s going to come in and show what he can do right away.”

White will play in the Les Schwab Bowl, Oregon’s all-star football game, onΒ June 21 at 4:30 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on The Game 750 in Portland, Oregon.
