Oshawa athlete joins OUA team’s 2016 class.
Carleton Ravens have announced the addition of Mitchell Raper to their football program.
The 6β0, 205 pound athlete from Oshawa, Ontario will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.
Among the teams Raper has suited up for during his career include Paul Dwyer Saints of the Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (LOSSAA) and Oshawa Hawkeyes of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah said the team has big plans for Raper as he will play an integral future role.
ββWe got to know Mitchell from Team Ontario this year and really liked his diverse set of skills,β commented Sumarah.Β βHe can play fullback, halfback or receiver and it is hard to find all these packaged together.β
βHe will be a big piece for us going forward and we are excited to have this exceptional student-athlete part of the Ravens program.β
For his part, Raper could only envision the next four to five years of his gridiron and academic life at Carleton.
βThe coaches are amazing and the academic support available to their football players is second to none,β expressed Raper.Β βOttawa is a great city and the football program has come so far in only three years.β
βI’d live to be a part of a growing program and something really special.β
Any doubts he may have ever had were eradicated when he stepped foot on the Ottawa, Ontario campus on an official visit.
βThe decision was easy for me after my visit,β added Raper.Β βI’ll be in a great city with great people on a great team.β
