Oshawa recruit signs with Gee-Gees (VIDEO)

Oshawa running back joins OUA team’s 2016 class.

Dawson Odei wants to go to a CIS team that is motivated to achieve success.

Consequently, the 5’6, 208 pound running back from Oshawa, Ontario signed with the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Odei will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.

Upon his official visit to the campus, the running back saw the commitment and vision the Gee-Gees possess when it comes to realizing their future goals.

“The reason I picked OttawaU was because they are a team that is hungry for a championship,” commented Odei on his decision.  “The program is well run and the coaches know their stuff.”

“They run an elite offense and I see myself fitting into it perfectly. The program is rebuilding and I want to be part of something great. I got that sense as soon as a visited the school as well as talking to the coaches. Ottawa is a place where I can further develop my skills as an athlete and a student. The focus is not just on athletics but academics as well.”

Currently, Odei is completing his final season with Paul Dwyer Saints of the Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (LOSSAA).  During his time there, he was named Team MVP.

Additionally, the offensive standout has suited up for the Oshawa Hawkeyes of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).  In 2014, Odei amassed 1051 yards (average of 7.8 yards per carry) in eight games with the Hawkeyes.  He was selected as Offensive MVP as well as selected as an OVFL All-Star.
