OT keeping wings, joins UBC Thunderbirds

UBC welcomes a BC commit to their Class of 2017.

Tim Grzechnik, an offensive tackle from W.J. Mouat Secondary, will be heading to the pacific coast from BC’s interior after signing with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.

“I chose UBC due to its proximity,” the product of Abbotsford, BC, said. “(Also) the fact that it has been a dominant school.”

Weighing in at 6’5, 320lbs, the W.J. Mouat Hawk (BC Secondary School Athletics Association) is bubbling with excitement over the new season. “Head Coach Nill seems like a straight shooter. He wants to win and he’ll build a team to do that,” Grzechnik said. “I’m excited for what Coach Nill and the other coaches have in store this season.”

He added that, “I’m excited for the future and what the T-Birds have to offer. I can’t wait!”

Grzechnik, who is pursuing a sociology major, has also spent three years playing with the Abbotsford Falcons (Valley Community Football League).

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
