Ottawa bound

CEGEP running back signs with OUA team.

Mathieu Tremblay will begin his CIS career in the Nationā€™s Capital.

Recently, the 5ā€™11, 195 pound running back from Saint-Felicien, Quebec committed to the Ottawa Gee-Gees for the 2014 OUA season.

Academics, environment and the strength of the football program were the main reasons Tremblay opted for the Gee-Gees.

ā€œI was very interested in the University of Ottawa because I wanted to study criminology and also because it is a bilingual university,ā€ explained Tremblay of his decision.Ā  ā€œI will study in French while living in an English environment.ā€

ā€œI signed after my visit because I felt that the coaches really wanted me and also because the atmosphere of the team was very friendly. Ā Also, I was very impressed by the quality of coaches and by the academic and sports facilities. Ā I also loved the history and prestige of the Gee-Gees football program.ā€

Tremblay joins the Gee-Gees after completing a four year stint with CEGEP Division 3 team, Jonquiere Gaillards.Ā  This past season, he rushed for 1,094 yards on 149 carries and scored nine rushing touchdowns.

During his time with the Gaillards, the running back has been selected twice as a CEGEP Division 3 All-Star and has been previously named an Offensive MVP.
