Ottawa Invaders look to take over the NFC

On the brink of their third season as an organization, and with a few new faces added to the squad, the Ottawa Invaders look to follow up an incredible run to the finals in 2011 by taking home the NFC title this year.

The heartbreaking one point loss at the hands of the Tri-City Outlaws in the Northern Football Conference Championship has left a bitter taste in the mouths of many returning Invaders, who are hoping to build off of their 5-3 record from the previous season.

Shattering 13 individual records in their quest for a cup in 2011, the Invaders proved they are a force to be reckoned with. This considered, along with the addition of Jason Kralt and Steve Campagna to the coaching staff, the Ottawa Invaders could not be more ready for their highly anticipated 2012 campaign.

Kralt, who spent over 7 years in the CFL, is expected to provide the missing experience and mental preparation to the defensive aspect of the Invaders game. This improvement to denfense coupled with the skill level and competitive drive of the returning offence, which accumulated 250 points for and 2,575 total yards last year, will only benefit the team’s solid record during the eight game regular season.

After a surprise visit from former Ottawa Rough Riders General Manager and Denver Broncos scout Dan Rambo, the Invaders now also have the mental edge it takes to be champions. Rambo brought with him both his Grey Cup and Super Bowl rings as he sat in on Invaders practice earlier this year.

Seeing up close what hard work and dedication on and off the football field leads to, the Invaders were given a great deal of confidence which can be expected to be seen throughout the 2012 season. Not only did they take away critical insights about the game from this experience but a new mindset and outlook for this year as well, which the team hopes will be the missing piece in their quest for the title they fell just short of one year ago.

β€œOne Goal, one mindset. Just win.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
