Ottawa recruit signs with Bishop’s (VIDEO)

Ottawa quarterback joins RSEQ team’s 2015 class.

Kyle Sheahan was flattered by the attention one school gave him during his recruitment process.

Consequently, the 6’0, 185 pound quarterback from Ottawa, Ontario signed with Bishop’s Gaiters.  Sheahan will join the team for the 2015 RSEQ season.

“I can’t be happier to be signing with Bishop’s,” expressed Sheahan.  “The one huge factor in my decision was their interest in me.”

“It was their desire to have me in their football program and in their school. I believe with the help of Coach [Kevin] Mackey and Coach Bailey I’ll be able to excel within the Gaiters offensive system and have the ability to compete with the other outstanding teams in the RSEQ. They were willing to take a chance on me and my goal for every day going forward will be to reward them for putting their faith in me.”

Moreover, the offensive standout is looking forward to a special reunion once he suits up for the Gaiters.

“One of my long time teammates and wide receivers Costa Jones has already committed to Bishop’s and I can’t wait to bring the chemistry we have and test it at the next level,” added Sheahan.

Sheahan has previously played for the Ottawa Myers Riders of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) where he guided the varsity squad to consecutive back-to-back league championships.

Furthermore, the pivot guided the midget Nepean Eagles of the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) to the City Championship this past fall.  In 2014, Sheahan led the league in touchdowns and passing yards.

“A quarterback is only as good as the rest of his offence,” added Sheahan of his recent successes.  ”I believe Bishop’s has put the work in to be successful in the near future and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
