The following student-athletes have been named OUA Football Players of the Week for the period ending September 18, 2011.
OFFENCE & SPECIAL TEAMS: Giovanni Aprile, Queen’s Gaels, Receiver
Aprileβs seven receptions for 177 yards and three touchdowns led the Gaels to their first victory this past weekend. He also racked up one touchdown and 191 yards in returns, breaking a school record. His 24 points ties him for second all-time on the Gaelsβ list for points in a game.
DEFENCE: Wilkerson DeSouza, Toronto Varsity Blues, Linebacker
DeSouza had a breakout day with a season-high 11 solo tackles. He also had one forced fumble and one fumble recovery during a goal line stand. DeSouza was named theScoreβs player of the game as he led the Varsity Blues to their first win over Guelph since 1995 on national television.
