OUA players of week 9: Kennedy, Postuma, Village


HAMILTON, Ont. – The following athletes have been named OUA Football Players of the Week for the period ending October 30, 2011.

OFFENCE: Austin Kennedy, Windsor Lancers, Quarterback


Austin Kennedy had another impressive game for the Lancers in their 50-33 win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the OUA quarterfinals. Kennedy went 25-34 for 429 yards and 5 TDs, and 86 yards rushing for 1TD. The win is Windsor’s first playoff win since 2003.

DEFENCE: Seamus Postuma, Windsor Lancers, Defensive Line


Postuma had an outstanding game on Saturday as he helped lead the Lancers to their first playoff win since 2003, with a 50-33 win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the OUA quarterfinals. The fourth year social work major had 6 solo tackles, 3 assisted tackles and 3 sacks for losses of 37 yards.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Dan Village, Queen’s Gaels, Kicker


Village was a contributing factor for the Gaels on the field goal and punting units during their quarterfinal game. Village hit two field goals from 29 and 35 yards away, and added a rouge to the Gaels scoring output. Village was a factor in the punting game also, averaging 34.4 yards per kick and pinning the Golden Hawks inside their own 20 yard line on two occasions.
