
HAMILTON, Ont. β The following athletes have been named OUA Football Players of the Week for the period ending November 27, 2011.
OFFENCE: Kyle Quinlan, McMaster Marauders, Quarterback
Kyle Quinlan led the Marauders to their first Vanier Cup win in school history over the Laval Rouge et Or. The South Woodslee, Ont. native was named the Ted Morris memorial trophy winner as offensive MVP, going 36-for-55 for 482 yards and two touchdowns in the air. He added another 106 yards on 14 rushes on the ground. His 36 completions and 482 passing yards ties him for the second-best in Vanier Cup history in both categories. Quinlan also helped the Marauders tie a Vanier Cup record for most first downs, completing 41 of them and McMaster’s 675 total offensive yards, fuelled by the fourth-year quarterback, is second best in Vanier Cup history.
DEFENCE: Aram Eisho, McMaster Marauders, Linebacker
Aram Eisho was named the defensive MVP at the Vanier Cup and recipient of the Bruce Coulter Award. The rookie linebacker led the Marauders with 11.5 tackles and one forced fumble. The Hamilton, Ont. native continued to make an impact on the Marauders defensive line all season long and came up big in at the National Championships.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Tyler Crapigna, McMaster Marauders, Kicker
Second-year kicker Tyler Crapigna booted the game winning field goal in double-overtime at the Vanier Cup to solidify McMaster’s first Vanier Cup win in school history. The Nepean, Ont. native went four-for-six on field goal attempts connecting from 20, 24, 26 and 37 yards, including the most important field goal of the game.
