HAMILTON, Ont. – Ontario University Athletics (OUA) has determined the possible football playoff scenarios depending on game outcomes this Saturday, October 22.
Heading into the final week of regular season, only one spot remains up for grabs, but seeding is far from set for playoffs beginning October 29.
The Western Mustangs have already clinched the top-spot, and are guaranteed to host a Yates Cup semi-final match on November 5. With their record of 7-0, this weekβs match-up against Queenβs will not affect their first place seeding.
McMaster (6-1) and Ottawa (5-2) have the potential to determine second place when they go head-to-head on October 22. Both teams will be fighting for a quarter-final bye and the right to host a semi-final game.
The Queenβs Gaels will not host a semi-final game, but have earned the right to host a quarter-final. With a record of 5-2, the Gaels will be at home on October 29, but their opponent has yet to be determined.
Windsor (4-3) is guaranteed the No. 5 seed, but will be on the road for an OUA quarter-final.
Laurier (3-4) and Guelph (2-5) are vying for the remaining playoff position, and face off against one another this weekend. Advantage goes to Laurier however, as even with a win the Gryphons cannot control the fate of their 2011 season.
Toronto, York, and Waterloo have officially been eliminated from playoff contention.
