At the same time, he suited up for the Napanee Golden Hawks of the Kingston Area Secondary School Athletic Association (KASSAA) where he set personal bests as he led the team in tackles, tackles of losses and sacks.
During his time with both teams, he assumed a leadership role as he was named defensive captain.
This past May, he captained Team East’s junior varsity squad at the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC).
A source of inspiration for Taylor is Grenadiers coach Tom Bell.
“He taught me to play the game with passion” he says.”To play every play as if it was your last!”
Taylor carries that passion and intensity into his offseason where he trains in the gym five times a week for a minimum of two hours. He is working in a mix of weight and resistance training but also mixes in cardio and flexibility training from time to time.
So far, tthe recruitment process has been very exciting for Taylor as he has been in contact with several CIS schools and will be attending Western and Queen’s summer camps.
“The process has taught me to be grateful for where I am right now, and to never forget the people that have helped me get to this point,” adds the Golden Hawks standout who is considering Western, Carleton, Queen’s, York and Guelph among his options. “It has been an unbelievable ride so far and I’m excited to see where this path will take me in grade 11 and 12”
As for future academic and career aspirations, Taylor plans to study either kinesiology or criminology with the hopes of of two possible career options  – sports physiotherapist or police officer.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
