Overwhelmed by positivity

Burlington defensive standout commits to OUA team’s 2014 class.

Matt Boulby gravitated towards the positive atmosphere he experienced on a recent official visit to one OUA school.

As a result, the 5ā€™10, 190 pound defensive standout from Burlington, Ontario has signed with the Waterloo Warriors.Ā  Boulby will join the Warriors for the 2014 OUA season.

ā€œI decided to commit to Waterloo because it was the best choice for me academically and the football program was spectacular to me,ā€ commented Boulby of his commitment.Ā  ā€œWhen I went on the recruitment trip there I was overwhelmed with the positivity around the locker room.ā€

ā€œThey made me feel like I was the top recruit in the country and that’s what stood out for me compared to other teams I talked to. I also saw they were a team on the rise and I saw that I was a good fit there in terms of being able to make an impact in my freshman season. It was an easy decision because University of Waterloo has one of the best engineering schools in Canada and I knew I’d walk out with great memories and an awesome degree that I can use in my future.ā€

Boulby completed his high school career with the Corpus Christi Longhorns of the Halton Secondary School Athletic Association (HSSAA).Ā  This past season, he played at both the centre and defensive end positions.Ā  Once he joins the Warriors, Boulby anticipates playing at either the defensive back or outside linebacker position.
