OVFL: Cambridge Lions win two out of three games, get ready for Brampton

OVFL: Cambridge Lions recap of Bantam, Junior Varsity, & Varsity performances

The Bantam Cambridge Lion’s of the OVFL evened their early season record at 1-1 with a 12-7 victory over Mississauga.

The defensive struggle was highlighted by two Cambridge interceptions by Mitchell Weiler and Nathan Christopher.

Other defensive contributors where Brayden Ralph with 5 tackles, Danyel Sipes with 3 and Riley Anderson with a sack.

On the offence, Brayden Hill passed for 181 yards and 2 touchdowns, one each to Kaden Jespersen and George Monaghan.

The Lions are in Brampton at 2:00 Saturday, playing the Bulldogs at Chinguacousy Park.

The Junior Varsity Cambridge Lions of the OVFL lost their first game of the season this weekend with a 21-10 loss to Mississauga at Jacob Hespeler Field.

The defensive line had a big game for Cambridge with Zachary Sauer having 9 tackles and Drew Walden having 10. Kevin Pham kicked in with an interception.

Austin Gordon connected with Adam Mueller for the Lion’s only touchdown of the game. Keiran Burnham added the conversion and kicked a 23 yard field goal to complete the Lion’s scoring.

The Jr. Varsity Lions take their 2-1 record to Brampton Saturday, 5:00 at Chinguacousy Park.

The Cambridge Varsity Lions won their second in a row and upped their record to 2-1 defeating Mississauga 21-18 this past weekend.

Glorian Ganza and Chris Ackie ran for touchdowns, and Eric Hewitson converted both TDs and added a field goal.

On the defence, James Smyth had an interception. Lucas Beeby and Robin Petrie also had big games on the Cambridge Defence.

The Varsity Lions next play Brampton Saturday night at Chinguacousy Park in Brampton.
