OVFL: Ironmen hold on to big halftime lead for victory over Warriors

In the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) semi-final Varsity game the Hamilton Ironmen went out to a 25 to 1 halftime lead and never looked back against the Mississauga Warriors. The victory gives Hamilton a birth in the OVFL Final game this Saturday against the Toronto Thunder (Rogers Center – 7pm).

Quarterback Alex Hill led the Ironmen with four touchdown passes. He connected with Michael Hayes (over 100 yards receiving) for scoring plays covering 75 and 19 yards and also found Anthony Pizzuti (15 yards) and Andrew Schultz (27 yards).

Domenic Belardini also booted field goals of 19 and 27 yards for Hamilton.

Mississauga quarterback Aaron Clarke was picked off during the game by Anthony Trabucco, Joseph Richardson and Jeremy Kyel.

Near the end of the third quarter, Clarke connected with Christian Collarlie on an eight-yard scoring pass. Running back Lukas Gavac scored later on a 15-yard run.

QB Clarke scampered into the endzone from five yards out for the game’s final score.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
