OVFL: Ravens taken down by Warriors in quadruple overtime (video)

The Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) Varsity playoffs continued this weekend with a premier match up between the defending champion Essex Ravens and the Mississauga Warriors. Timely defense and an opportunistic offense were the formula for success for the Warriors in their come-from-behind overtime victory Saturday evening.

The Essex Ravens went out early in the game, accumulating a 24 to 10 lead by halftime, on TD runs by Nick Vincent and Cody McCann a Sebastien Rimbert FG and an Alex Brockman pick 6. The Warrior 1st half points came from an Aaron Clarke TD run and a Marcus Hobbs FG.

The turning part in the game may have been a fourth and inches play deep in Warrior territory that the Warrior defense stopped. The Warriors converted the turnover into a touchdown, getting them back in the game, and giving them the momentum needed to tie the game at 24. Lukas Gavac and Devante Hobbs scored the two touchdowns.

Ravens Logan Avelar (who replaced an injured Nick Vincent at half) put the home team back up by 7 points with a touchdown late in the third quarter. With less than 2 minutes remaining the Warriors tied the game on another Aaron Clarke to Hobbs touchdown pass.
