Great fit

CEGEP receiver joins RSEQ team’s 2014 class.

In order to pursue his future academic goals, a CEGEP defensive back has made his decision on where he will land next.

Recently, Eric Paquette committed to the Concordia Stingers for the 2014 RSEQ season.  Moreover, the 5’7, 145 pound defensive back from Pierrefonds, Quebec was impressed with the Stingers football program.

“I have been interested in Athletic Therapy for quite some time now and Concordia has one of the best programs across Canada,” commented Paquette of his choice.  “As a result, I chose to attend Concordia University in order to continue my education.”

“From the football aspect, I was very undecided as to whether I would continue playing after my two years at John Abbott College, but in talking to former Head Coach Gerry McGrath and Shawn Mayne (Special Teams Coordinator), my decision was made all that much easier.  I have heard nothing but good things about the football program at Concordia and after having met with Coach Luc (Pelland – Defensive Coordinator), Coach Nate and Coach Shawn, I felt very welcomed and realized it would be a great fit.”

The defensive back joins the Stingers after competing in CEGEP Division 2 with John Abbott Islanders.  This past fall, Paquette registered 31.5 tackles, caught seven interceptions and had eight knockdowns.

Previous to the Islanders, Paquette suited up for the North Shore Lions where he was selected as the Team’s Most Improved Player as well North Shore Mustangs where he was awarded Special Teams MVP.
