Garrett Holmes scored four touchdowns to lead the Halton peewee Cowboys to a 27-6 rout of the Etobicoke Eagles in their Ontario Minor Football League season-opening game last weekend in Milton.
Jordan Arruda, Nik Lamont and Colin Mordan anchored a Cowboys defence that bent but didn’t break throughout the contest.
Etobicoke spoiled Halton’s shutout bid with a fourth-quarter touchdown.
The atom Cowboys also opened their season Saturday, falling 36-0 to Etobicoke.
Halton’s bantam and junior varsity squads will begin their campaigns this weekend, while the tykes kick off their year June 4.
