Peewee Warriors win versus Cumberland in OVFL game

The Mississauga Warrior Peewee Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) team held off the visiting Cumberland Panthers by a final of 19 to 7 in an afternoon match in Mississauga. Both teams displayed great athleticism and had tremendous size for players of peewee age. Mississauga opened the scoring when #15, QB, Daniel Mariano, took off on a scramble and crossed the Panther goal line. The point after attempt was unsuccessful.

The Warriors increased their lead with a 25 yard field goal by #25 Fraser Miller. Afterwards the teams defenses came up with great efforts, culminating in a Warrior interception with 2:28 left in the half by #1 Mark Nespeca. Not to be outdone the Panthers #60 Mostafa Kari returned the favour and returned his interception 20 yards. Next play #5 Panther running back Jaylen King ran the ball 54 yards for a touchdown. Number 76 Quinton Soares kicked the convert making the score 9 to 7 for the Warriors with 1:22 to play in the half.

And then the teams exchanged interceptions again. First #14 from the Panthers, Jason Azzi intercepted the ball and returned in 65 yards before being brought down by the Warriors…but not to be outdone the next play #32 Alexandre Murray intercepted the ball for the Warriors. HALFTIME

The only scoring of the second half saw the Mississauga defense score on a fumble recover in the end zone by #5 Nathan Hobbs. And the second half was DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE. FINAL score 19 to 7 Warriors.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
