Persevering despite obstacles: King City’s Darian Waite and Sam Montezari (video)

Sam Montezari and Darian Waite have been performing well on and off the football fields lately. The two King City football stars have also performed well for their former OVFL team (Newmarket Storm) and a variety of football camps they have attended. Both are class 2012 players.

Sam Montazerri has been starting Middle Linebacker, Fullback, and Team Captain for 2 of King City’s Junior Champions and last year’s Senior York Champions and Metro Bowl Finalists.

As a member of last year’s O.V.F.L. Newmarket Storm Raiders he was second in total defensive stats with an impressive 27 solo tackles and 41 assisted tackles in 8 games.

Darian Waite still holds the record for most TD’s at the Junior level with 22 TD’s when King City won York region and made it to the Junior Metro Bowl Semi-finals.

Last year for King City, Darian was an explosive kick and punt returner in addition to his duties as Tailback and outside linebacker. He had numerous long returns including a memorable one against Richview in the Metro Bowl Semi’s to return momentum back to King.

His speed on defense as an outside linebacker was key in containing the formidable and dangerous triple option of Huron Heights in the York Region Final.

Darian has played his minor football with the York Simcoe Bucs of the O.F.C.

Both Darian and Sam are currently with the O.V.F.L.’s Newmarket Bucs preparing for the up-coming summer season and they will both be back in the King City lineup in the fall.

Darian and Sam performed well at a recent NUC Schuman camp in Rochester, New York. To get there they had to perform well enough in I.D. camps to be invited.

Darian and Sam left Rochester as the MVP award winners at their respective positions – Darian as the Running back MVP and Sam as the co-Linebacker MVP and Combine’s co-Strongest man award winner.

As a result of their MVP performances, the next stop for the boys is the Eastern U.S.A. Ultimate 100 camp in New Jersey on June 19.

Darrian and Sam mark the 2nd and 3rd King City players to reach this prestigious event.

Another King City player who has performed well on a variety of teams and camps is Fabian Nardone. Fabian was team captain and free safety for the 2008 Brampton Bulldogs OVFL peewee champions, and the JV Defensive MVP for the 2010 Brampton Bulldogs OVFL Junior Champions.

From the free safety position, he was second in total defensive stats with 16 solo and 17 assisted tackles to go along with a team high 4 interceptions in 8 games.

He was also a member of the 2009 U17 Team West Ontario squad at the Football Canada Cup in Saskatoon.

At King City, he was starting free safety and team captain for last year’s Senior York Champions and Metro Bowl Finalist and captain for the 2009 Junior York champions as a running back and had an impressive 5 TD performance in the York Final along with 3 TD’s in the Central Bowl against Eastview the following week.

Fabian Nardone has attended two Ultimate 100 events as a freshman Defensive Back in New Jersey and as a sophomore defensive back in Los Angeles prior to the recent success of Sam and Darian.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
