PFC Game of the Week (4): Battle of Edmonton

The Game of the Week in the PFC features a battle of Edmonton when the Wildcats and Huskies battle in a Week 1 rematch on Sunday afternoon.

The Huskies (3-0) began the 2013 season with a 23-17 win over the Wildcats (1-1) despite getting outgained 444-339.

Huskies quarterback Trevor Erdmann completed 19 passes that day and threw two touchdown passes.

The Wildcats on the other hand would predominately run the ball as Levon Hawreliak rushed 22 times for 187 yards and scored a major.

Perhaps the biggest factor to look at is the fact the Wildcats are coming off a bye, while the Huskies hosted Calgary last weekend and haven’t had a rest since training camp.  While the Cats have rested injuries, the Huskies have continued to pound away.

The last time the Wildcats played, was two weeks ago beating the Colts 23-8.  Again they would use the run game as Hawreliak rushed 23 times for 131 yards and two majors.  They would gather 249 yards on the ground during the game.

Both defenses in Edmonton have played very well.  The first place Huskies have given up just 68 points (3 games), while the Cats have given up just 31 (2 games).    The Huskies have a +6 when it comes to turnovers and lead the conference with four interceptions.  The Wildcats on the other hand are a +4 with just one pick and three fumble recoveries.

These games are always enjoyable as city bragging rights are on the line.  Heading into Week 4, the Huskies have the advantage after their Week 1 win, but the Wildcats are looking for payback.

Kickoff at Clarke Park is set for 1:00pm on Sunday.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
