PFC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSE- RYAN MARSCH, Winnipeg Rifles

The 3rd-year quarterback has been one of the hottest passers in the PFC in 2011. Marsch threw for a career-high 6 touchdown passes in Winnipeg’s 52-31 home win over the Regina Thunder on Sunday. Derek Dean would reel in 3 scores, Matt Lariviere 2, and Alex Vitt had the other touchdown catch.

The 6’1, 205-pound Sturgeon Heights Collegiate grad would complete 20 of 34 passes for 425 yards.

For the second straight week, Marsch would be involved in a contest where both he & the opposing pivot, Regina’s Wyatt Catley would both throw for 400+ yards.

Marsch leads the PFC in passing yards with 1094 and in the passing efficiency ratings with a rating of 132.4.


DEFENSE-RICHARD ZACHARIAS, Saskatoon Hilltops

For the 2nd time this season, Richard Zacharias picks up defensive honors. Zacharias racked up 20 defensive points in the Hilltops’ 26-5 victory over the Edmonton Huskies on Saturday night. The 4th-year linebacker recorded 8 solo tackles and picked off a Ben Gorniak pass in the win.

The product of Hague, SK is currently 6th in PFC defensive points with 34 defensive points.


SPECIAL TEAMS- ZACH SCHMIDT, Saskatoon Hilltops

The sophomore kicker has had a slow start to the season as he hit on one of his first three field goal attempts in the season’s first two weeks. On Saturday night, he snapped the slump in a big way as he connected on all 3 of his field goal attempts from 24, 35 & 22 yards out.

Schmidt would punt 12 times on the night, averaging 42.8 yards/punt. He added a 71-yard punt single on the game’s final play.

Schmidt is in a 4-way-tie for 1st in the PFC scoring race with 24 points.
