The Carabins bring in a local commit to their Class of 2017.
When a city has multiple, football-playing universities, it may be tough to nail down a hometown team, but René André Saint-Fleur, an offensive lineman from Collège André-Grasset, knew his heart belonged with the University of Montréal Carabins.
Dressing up in the Carabins blue has been a long-awaited dream of Saint-Fleur’s. “I chose the University of Montréal because they have a great program in criminology and since high school, I have always wanted to play for them,” the current criminology student said.
“The coaching staff is great, very nice and they want us to be well-prepared. They help us to be the best we can while training,” he added.
The 6’2, 260lbs product of Montréal played with Le Cactus du Collège Notre-Dame (RSEQ) in high school and Les Phénix du Collège André-Grasset (RSEQ Division 1) in cégep. In his eight seasons of football, he won a Bol d’Or in his last year of high school. He was also given a trophy for his exploits as an offensive lineman.
