Pickering recruit picks York

Pickering linebacker joins OUA team’s 2016 class.

Matthew Becks will be commencing the next chapter of his gridiron career in his home province.

Recently, the 6’1, 205 pound linebacker from Pickering, Ontario signed with York Lions.  Becks will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.

“I chose York because it felt like a family environment,” explained Becks of his decision.  “They made me feel like they cared about more than just football and how I perform on the field.”

“We are student athletes. I was happy to see how much time and effort they put into helping me towards a better education.”

Becks arrives to York after completing his career with St. Mary Monarchs of the Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (LOSSAA).  In 2015, the linebacker registered 38 tackles, recorded four sacks, caught an interception and had two forced fumbles.

In addition to the Monarchs, Becks also suited up for the North Halton Crimson Tide of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).
