PLAYOFF PREVIEW (ONT – WATERLOO): Phoenix must contain Celtics’ QB in championship game

The senior boys Resurrection Phoenix are hoping to continue their winning ways after a solid performance last week when they defeated the St. Mary’s Eagles 35-14 in the semi-finals. This week they face the St. David’s Celtics in the championship game.

The Phoenix beat the Celtics both times they played them during the season.

Their ability to run the ball on offence and stop the run on defence are their biggest strengths heading into the final.

There is one aspect of their team that requires improvement.

“As a team we need to cut down on the amount of mental mistakes we made in our previous game,” said Phoenix Head Coach Matt Gallagher.

There isn’t one particular player who is expected to break out, but they have a plethora of talented weapons on offence.

“Any of our offensive skill players could have a break out game,” commented Gallagher.

The Phoenix know that they have to contain the Celtics’ quarterback. If they’re successful in doing that, it will increase their chances of winning.

Offence, defence and special teams will all be factors in the final.

“All three phases factored into our victory last week and it will be the same this week,” stated Gallagher.

The championship game between Resurrection and St. David’s will take place on Thursday, November 12 at 3:00pm.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
