The senior boys Resurrection Phoenix are hoping to continue their winning ways after a solid performance last week when they defeated the St. Maryās Eagles 35-14 in the semi-finals. This week they face the St. Davidās Celtics in the championship game.
The Phoenix beat the Celtics both times they played them during the season.
Their ability to run the ball on offence and stop the run on defence are their biggest strengths heading into the final.
There is one aspect of their team that requires improvement.
āAs a team we need to cut down on the amount of mental mistakes we made in our previous game,ā said Phoenix Head Coach Matt Gallagher.
There isnāt one particular player who is expected to break out, but they have a plethora of talented weapons on offence.
āAny of our offensive skill players could have a break out game,ā commented Gallagher.
The Phoenix know that they have to contain the Celticsā quarterback. If theyāre successful in doing that, it will increase their chances of winning.
Offence, defence and special teams will all be factors in the final.
āAll three phases factored into our victory last week and it will be the same this week,ā stated Gallagher.
The championship game between Resurrection and St. Davidās will take place on Thursday, November 12 at 3:00pm.
