Previews and Predictions #CFC10 Ontario Summer Season – JV (1): Early season Clash of the Titans!

The 2014 Summer Season was a great one at the JV level.

In the OFC, the Hamilton Hurricanes ended the Burlington Stampeders four year stranglehold on the OFC JV division, knocking off the powerhouse Stamps in the conference finals and facing the season’s biggest rags-to-riches story the Clarington Knights. Just like that the Hurricanes became the team to beat and you know Burlington will be gunning for them.

On the OVFL side London knocked off two-time runner up Myers and the Riders once again look geared to make a run.

The 2015 season should start with a bang as the OVFL features a week one battle involving two preseason #CFC10 teams #7 Brampton and #2 Cambridge, our feature match in this week’s JV Preview and Predictions.

camb lions v brampton (1)

#7 BRAMPTON BULLDOGS (0-0) @ #2 CAMBRIDGE LIONS (0-0) Sat. May 23rd Jacob Hespeler Field 20h00

The Match-up: Talk about jumping in head first. Week one and boom, number seven heading to number two in a clash of preseason giants. Cambridge is always strong and they are looking to return to the form that had them atop the mountain in 2013. Brampton has been on a two year upswing and look to be peaking this season and ready to make a run.

Why Cambridge may win: The ground game, plain and simple. System-wise, year in year out the JV Lions amass big numbers on the ground and are amongst the most fundamentally sound when it comes to rushing the ball. Early on, especially at the JV level the ground game will win you games and the Lions should be able to control the time of possession and move the ball with some degree of efficiency.

Why Brampton may win:Β Cambridge will be replacing graduated all-world QB Jackson White and may take a while to click. The ‘Dogs are faster on both sides of the ball and if they can turn this one into a track meet they will be in the driver’s seat.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: What should be a classic will come down to the last few minutes and Cambridge gets the nod at home.

FINAL SCORE: CAMBRIDGE 28 BRAMPTON 24
