Previews and Predictions (Sask HS): #CFC50 Rematch in Regina

Each and every week, Sask Tipster brings you the week’s preview and predictions for Saskatchewan high School Football. Here are this week’s previews and predictions for games in Regina and Saskatoon:

REGINA INTERCOLLEGIATE FOOTBALL LEAGUE (RIFL):

CFC#8 Campbell Tartans (5-0) vs. CFC#14 LeBoldus Golden Suns (4-1)

CFC#8 Campbell Tartans will be tested again only two weeks after what was their biggest win of the past few years.

Yes, you know it, it’s rematch time!

CFC#14 LeBoldus Golden Suns have one thing in mind and that’s redemption. Expect them to come flying out of the gates with a fast and physical style of play. Don’t be surprised if they mix up a few tricks plays in this one. The goal here is to win and reclaim supremacy in the Regina Intercollegiate Football League (RIFL).

Nothing new needs to be said. CFC100 Payton Hall of the Tartans will play a large role in the outcome. Β The Golden Sun standouts will need to play intelligently to stay away from Hall. If you think LeBoldus will win this one, then expect big plays from either CFC100Β quarterback Chan DeCiman or running back Jamal Hooker. If you are rooting for the Tartans, then it’s CFC100 Hall and REC/K/P Kris Calcutt. Either way, this is the game of the week!

PREDICTION: Campbell Tartans 23, LeBoldus Golden Suns 22

Cordell Kadash

Luther Lions (6-0) vs. O’Neill Titans (5-1)

The O’Neill Titans only loss has been to a worthy 4-A opponent (CFC#14Β LeBoldus Golden Suns) while the Luther Lions drew an easier schedule and did not face any #CFC50Β opponents.

What’s the best way to compare these teams on paper? Well… let’s take a look at their out-of-conference games:

They are both left with a 4-0 conference record with their defenses are allowing less than eight points per game and their offenses each put up over 120 points.

Conclusion? These two teams are excellent, and deserve their top two status in the 3-A conference.

Prediction? Now that’s much more difficult! Any way you look at it, this should be a close game.

PREDICTION: Luther Lions 29, O’Neill Titans 22

Evan Hardy Souls 1

SASKATOON SECONDARY SCHOOL ATHLETIC DIRECTORATE (SSSAD):

Bishop Mahoney Saints (4-1) vs. Evan Hardy Souls (5-0)

This ‘AAA’ game should be the most competitive one in Saskatoon this week. The Bishop Mahoney Saints have won three consecutive games and are hosting the firstΒ place Evan Hardy Souls. The Saints’ only loss this year took place in Week 2 when they fell short to the 4-1 Marion Graham Falcons. Bishop Mahoney won their gameΒ versus the same opponents in Week 1 by a two point margin.

The big match up too look for is between the Souls’ receiver Nathan Unruh and the Saints’ defensive back Adam Lewis. These two athletes are excellent football players and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

Evan Hardy has only played one road game this year while Bishop Mahoney has the advantage of playing their second consecutive game on home turf. The Saints 59-0 victory last week is an indication of their strength, but don’t count on a repeat as they face a much tougher opponent.

PREDICTION: Bishop Mahoney Saints 27 – Evan Hardy Souls 30

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
