Prince Edward Island recruit earns unique distinction in OUA with York signing (VIDEO)

Kensington quarterback joins OUA team’s 2016 class.

Jayden Reid is in a special class at the CIS level.

With his recent signing with the York Lions, the 6’0, 180 pound quarterback becomes only one of two Prince Edward Island players to join a team in the OUA. The Kensington, Prince Edward Island recruit joins the Lions for the 2016 season.

“It’s a true honour to only be the second islander to play in the OUA,” expressed Reid.

As for his signing with the Lions, the pivot said a special bond he forged with one Lions’ coach was the ultimate reason he decided to head to Ontario to pursue his CIS career.

“My main reason for committing to York university was coach Kyle Quinlan; he was originally the head coach for the Holland College Hurricanes (AFL team),” reflected Reid Ā “Quinlan came to my house and spoke to me and my parents talking about York and their football program and after that conversation I knew it would be the school that I would commit to.”

“Without Quinlan, I don’t think I would’ve committed to York.”

Moreover, Reid extends a family legacy by joining the OUA Conference.

“Another reason for my commitment was my father,” explained the pivot. “He was my head coach and also played in the OUA for the Carleton Ravens and pushed me my whole senior year..”

Reid comes to the Lions after completing his career with the Summerside Clippers where he led his team to a perfect 8-0 season with 35 passing touchdowns and only four interceptions.
