Professionalism draws CFC100 to Mustangs

Western adds an out-of-province commit to their Class of 2018.

It will be a long flight across the country for latest Western Mustang, CFC100 Philip Grohovac, an offensive lineman from Mount Douglas Secondary School.

Coming off a Vanier Cup victory this season, the Mustangs are one of Canada’s top football teams. It’s something that caught the eye of the Victoria, BC, product. “I picked Western because of how professional the coaches are, the great team culture and (the fact that they) were very successful this past season,” Grohovac said.

“The coaches were great,” he added. “They were very professional and made it very easy to feel comfortable with the players.”

Grohovac spent four years with the Mount Douglas Rams (BC High School Football Association) and five with the Saanich Wolverines (Greater Victoria Minor Football Association). While the 6’4, 265lbs tackle was named to Team Canada this summer, he was sidelined due to a knee injury. Originally from Victoria, BC, he is interested in becoming a teacher.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
