PRUD’HOMME, FONSECA AND GΓ‰LINAS NAMED PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Quarterback Bruno Prud’homme of the Laval University Rouge et Or, linebacker Felipe Fonseca of the University of Sherbrooke Vert & Or and kicker Pierre-Paul GΓ©linas of the University of Montreal Carabins, have been selected as the Quebec University Football League’s (QUFL) players of the week for the period ending October 17.

Highlights : Quarterback Bruno Prud’homme threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns as the Laval Rouge et Or clinched first place in the Quebec University Football League (QUFL) with a 62-0 victory over the Bishop’s Gaiters on Sunday. Prud’homme, who is completing his Masters degree in Physiology-Endocrinology, completed 23 of the 29 passes while adding another nine yards rushing on a pair of carries. He is currently the most effective pivot in the league having completed 66.4 percent of the passes he has attempted this season.

Highlights : Linebacker Felipe Fonseca was a force in the Sherbrooke Vert & Or’s 39-36 double-overtime win against the Concordia Stingers at the UdeS Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Administration student racked up a total of 12 tackles, of which 11 were unassisted stops, in addition to forcing a second quarter fumble. The turnover at the Concordia 22 yard line led to a Simon Charbonneau-Campeau touchdown a few minutes later, giving the home side an early 10-4 lead. With the win, the Vert & Or moved into the fourth place in the conference.

Highlights : Making his first start of the season, kicker Pierre-Paul GΓ©linas booted a trio of field goals to help lead the Montreal Carabins to a 30-7 win over the McGill Redmen. GΓ©linas, who has been sidelines since suffering an injury during training camp, split the uprights from 14, 17 and 20 yards out and averaged 40.2-yards on six punts and 50.2-yards on four kickoffs.
