Matt Krason became passionate about playing the quarterback position early on in his gridiron career.
βI first started playingΒ quarterback in my second year of football, thatβs where I fell in love with the position and have been playing it ever since,β recalled the 6β4, 215 pound pivot.Β βThe thing I like most about the quarterback position is probably the leadership aspect; it feels great knowing you have 45 other guys on your team trusting you to lead them.β
βI’d be lying if I said having control of the ball isn’t a perk of the position as well.β
During his time with both the Brantford Bisons of the Ontario Football Conference and North Park Trojans of the Brant County Secondary School Athletic Association (BCSSAA), Krason has evolved into a strong pivot.
βMental strength is one of the biggest parts of playing the quarterback position and is essential for any quarterback to have,β explained the Trojans standout.
On the field, Krason tries to emulate his game to a trio of NFL pivots.
βI look up to quarterbacks like Andrew Luck (Indianapolis Colts), Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) and Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers), allowing guys with strong arms that can really push the ball downfield,β elaborated the Trojans quarterback.Β βThatβs who I try to model my game after, just being able to stay in the pocket, make reads and get the ball downfield.β
This weekend, Krason will participate in the QB Canada Mississauga Clinic where he hopes to gain more knowledge and feedback from the instructors.
βI’m looking forward to just learning and absorbing as much information as I can while I’m there,β added Krason.Β βItβs such a valuable tool to have these coaches with such a high level of experience and expertise with the position.β
