QB Donnelly to stay local?

LeBoldus Golden Suns Josh Donnelly excited for the future

Donnelly has been battling fierce competitors on the gridiron since he was in Grade 9. He has represented Team South Saskatchewan U16 in 2015, Team Saskatchewan U18 at the football Canada Cup this past summer and will be playing for Team Canada U18 this January. While competing for Team South Saskatchewan U16 in 2015, his squad won the tournament championship, and he was named tournament All-Star when he suited up for Team Saskatchewan U18.

Josh Donnelly is also the starting quarterback for the Dr. Martin LeBoldus Suns in Regina Saskatchewan (4A Schwann). The Golden Suns are 3-0 this season and outscored their last opponent 54-8.Ā A highlight from last season was being able to continue to great legacy that the Suns have in Saskatchewan. Donnelly commented, “Winning the provincial championship, it was a great experience continuing the dynasty Leboldus has made the last few years.”

When he’s looking for support, the young quarterback has his parents to look up to. Josh’s parents are always supporting him in football and school.

On the gridiron, Donnelly looks up to head coach John Foord. Josh said of Foord, “A great leader, helpful guidance and he’s always putting me in a position to be successful.

Josh is leaning towards business admin, and then possibly going into law when he’s done with high school. He is considering the University of Regina Rams and the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.Ā Josh has been enjoying his recruiting process. He mentioned, “Been an interesting experience, and I’m excited to see what the future will bring.”

Training is an important aspect of his life. For his off-season regimen, Josh does 4 days a week of weight training and 2 days of the week he works on speed and agility. In season, Josh spends 3 days a week weight training.

Josh always strives to better himself. In order to beĀ consistent in his position, Josh is going to work hard at practice in order to put himself and his team in the best position to win.
