Quebec conference mvp and award winners prognostication


Over the next few days CFC will be previewing each conferences best players and potential award winners. Coach Carlo and his staff worked hard to compile this list of great CIS players.

Quebec
MVP
CFC’s Winner:
RB Rotrand Sene, Montreal
Sene is a do-it-all type of player who takes snaps in the wildcat as well as the traditional backfield handoffs. He is currently averaging an absurd 170 yards from scrimmage per game and is sure to break 1000 yards rushing on the season.

Honourable Mentions:
QB Jesse Andrews, Bishop’s
The dual threat QB his taken this team on his shoulders in leading them to a 5-1 start. He is averaging 250 yards passing and 50 yards rushing per game. Not bad.

RB Sebastian Levesque, Laval
Despite missing two games, Levesque still ranks third in the nation in rushing, averaging 120 yards per game and 6.5 yards per carry.



Lineman of the Year

CFC’s Winner:
DL Arnaud Gascon-Nadon, Laval
Gascon-Nadon leads the nation in sacks with 8 and is now drawing double teams from frustrated Offensive linemen and Offensive Coordinators who are wishing he stayed across the border at Rice.

Honourable Mentions:
DL Ben Thompson, McGill
Thompson has been wreaking havoc in opponents’ backfields all season with an impressive 9 tackles for loss.

DL Gregory Alexandre, Montreal
This mammoth defensive lineman has been stout in run defense all year and chipped in the pass rush with 2 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries, not to mention 7 tackles for loss.



Special Teams Player of the Year

CFC’s winner:
K Christopher Milo, Laval
Milo is 12 for 14 on field goals and also plays a critical role in the punting game, averaging 42 yards per punt and placing an amazing 18 punts inside the 20.

Honourable Mention:
K Josh Maveety, Bishop’s
Maveety leads the nation in points with 69 and was instrumental in Bishop’s two close wins against Concordia. He is perfect on extra points and has made 18 of 24 field goal attempts.

K Austin Anderson, McGill
Anderson is 12 for 17 on field goals and perfect on all his extra points.

Rookie of the Year (updated after a little more digging and help – Oct 14 10:30pm)

DL David Menard Montreal
7 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.

REC Mike Harrington Concordia
22 catches for 208 yards and 1 touchdown

REC / RET Raphael Gagne
34 punt returns for 582 yards and 2 TDs. 9 kick returns for 209 yards. 3 catches for 22 yards.

Pier Lavertue OL (Center)

REC Justene Edwards, McGill
The Toronto native has been a spark in the Redmen’s passing game this year, providing McGill a much needed big target. He has 21 catches for 333 yards.



Defensive Player of the Year

CFC’s Winner:
DB Frederick Plesius, Laval The former Baylor Bear continues his strong play this year with 37 total tackles, a sack and 3 interceptions, one returned to the house. He is a monstrous presence in the secondary at 6’1, 245 lbs.

Honorable Mention:

LB Justin Conn, Bishop’s
Conn has been a big playmaker for the Gaiters’ defense this year. The senior has 2 sacks and 2 interceptions returned for 67 yards.

LB Nicolas Boulay, Sherbrooke
Boulay is a versatile defender who comes up to lay a lick consistently. He has already posted a 3.5 tackles for loss, along with 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 pass breakups.
