The RSEQ (Sports Network Quebec student) has honored the best student-athletes from Division 1 college football at the annual banquet held Saturday at the Holiday Inn in Laval. Vincent Alarie-Tardif of Champlain College – Lennoxville, RΓ©gis Cibasu of CollΓ¨ge Γdouard-MontpetitΒ Maxime Drolet of CΓ©gepΒ Garneau were all given great recognition.
Running back Vincent Alarie-Tardif was named MVP of the 2012 season. In his third year as running back for the Cougars, he had 194 carries for 1150 yards on the ground and eight touchdowns. In addition, he caught 16 passes for 151 yards and with 3 touchdowns for a total of 1351 yards and 11 touchdowns. He led his team to a record of nine wins and a defeat for the first place overall as well as participation in the Bol d’Or.
For his part, RΓ©gis Cibasu has won the title of offensive player. The wide receiver accumulated 779 yards on 48 receptions for an average of 16.2 yards and six touchdowns. Linebacker Maxime Drolet was selected defensive player. He finished second in the league in number of tackles with 79.5, including 64 solo and 31 assisted in addition to making two sacks and three tackles for loss. Lloyd Constant (Vanier College Cheetahs) was named best offensive lineman.
Cougars Champlain College Lennoxville saw their coaching staff be rewarded for a second consecutive year.
