Queen’s Ryan Sheahan named Tiger-Cats assistant coach

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 3, 2012) – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League announced today that Ryan Sheahan has been named running backs coach.

β€œThis is an exciting opportunity and a chance to take that next step in my coaching career. On one had it will be tough to move on from Queen’s after playing and coaching here over the past ten plus years but it also allows me to develop my skills as a coach in the professional ranks.”

Sheahan is the oldest of Head Coach Pat Sheahan‘s children and attended Queen’s University from 2000-2004 where he served as the team’s backup quarterback to two-time Hec Creighton recipient Tom Denison. In 2004 he shared the quarterbacking duties with Ali Clarkson. Also in 2004, he contributed as the team’s kicker scoring 36 points.

Following his time with the Gaels, Sheahan became offensive coordinator of the Limestone Senior Grenadiers of the OVFL in 2005 helping them to a 7-3 record. He completed his playing career as a player coach for the Esjberg Hurricanes in Esjberg Denmark before returning to complete his Bachelor of Arts at Queen’s in 2008.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
