Queen’s addresses size with addition of Caledon recruit

Caledon lineman joins OUA team’s 2016 class

Queen’s Gaels have announced the addition of Cameron Lawson to their football program.

Lawson, the 6’3, 285 pound lineman from Caledon, Ontario will join the Gaels for the 2016 OUA season.

“I am very pleased that Cam has committed to us,” commented Gaels Head Coach Pat Sheahan.  “He has a large frame and is very athletic for a big guy.”

“It’s no secret we needed size in this year’s recruiting class. Cam is a welcome addition to us here at Queen’s!”

Among the teams Lawson has suited up for during his career include St. Edmund Campion Bears of the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA) and Brampton Bulldogs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).  The lineman has also represented his home province as a member of Team Ontario.

Overall, the rich tradition of academics and strength of the football program were the major reasons Lawson opted for the

Finally, Queen’s football program is top notch and I felt that if I came to their program under the leadership of Coach Sheahan and one of the best D-line coaches in the nation, Coach [Greg] Marshall that I would surely be able to bring out my full potential as a football player.”
