Queens Gaels offense stiffled in opening loss against McMaster

The Queen’s Gaels couldn’t find a rhythm as they fell to the No. 3 McMaster Marauders by a 26-2 score in a windy home opener. The loss marks the first home opening loss by the Gaels since 2005.

Crapigna hit a 20 yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring for the Marauders.

Gaels quarterback Billy McPhee of Burlington, Ont. threw for 132 yards on 13-32 passing and two interceptions while Justin Chapdelaine of Abbotsford, B.C. led all Gaels receivers with 64 yards on five catches. Fellow Abbotsford, B.C. native Dan Village was the Gaels’ top special teams player averaging 41 yards per punt, while pinning McMaster inside their 20 yard line twice.
