In addition to fourth-year standout linebacker Cam Hoffman, the Raiders will have three new faces from the Valley on hand.

Offensive lineman Mike Watson and defensive back Elliott Jones made the jump from the midget Cowichan Bulldogs to the Raiders, while wide receiver Whitman Tomusiak was recruited from the midget Nanaimo Redmen. All three players made the cut to the 2010 roster after trying out in May.

Watson, a 2009 graduate of Frances Kelsey Secondary, spent one year of midget football with the Nanaimo Redmen before transferring to the Bulldogs, while Jones, a 2009 Cowichan Secondary grad played in Nanaimo for two years before returning to his hometown team last year. Tomusiak played three years of midget with the Redmen.

All three played in the Star Bowl, the British Columbia midget football all-star game, where Jones was named the top defensive back.

The new players will have high expectations to fulfill.

One of the most successful teams in the Canadian Junior Football League, the Raiders have won four consecutive provincial titles, as well as national championships in 2006, 2008 and 2009. The team went undefeated in 2009. They will kick off the 2010 season on July 17, against the Victoria Rebels.
