Rams bolster defensive line

Regina defensive tackle signs with CWUAA team

Matthew Moore will be playing in front of the hometown crowd at the CIS level for the next few years.

Recently, the 6’1, 261 pound defensive lineman (tackle) signed with the University of Regina Rams.  Moore will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

“Some of the main reasons why I committed to the Rams was I couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else,” expressed Moore.  “I grew up watching those guys and to now I am humbled to be a part of the program.”

“As well I have many close friends on the team so they definitely had a big impact on me choosing to become a Ram.”

For the past four seasons, Moore has suited up for the LeBoldus Golden Suns of the Regina Intercollegiate Football League (RIFL). This past season, the defensive lineman registered 17 tackles, recorded three sacks and had two pass knock downs. He was named a RIFL 4A Schwann Conference All-Star at both the defensive tackle and right guard positions. During his time with the Golden Suns, the team won three consecutive Provincial 4A Championships.

With his commitment to the Rams, he will be reunited with former Golden Suns teammate, two-way player Polis Koko who also signed with the team.

“I thought the Rams would be the best fit for me was because they were in need of D-Line and I feel like I can definitely help in that regard,” added Moore.  “Also, Greg Nesbit is the D-Line Coach and he has coached me and really had an impact on my game today so that’s another main reason why I chose the Rams.”
