Recap: Ravens beat Lions in Pre-Season Matchup

The Carleton Ravens Football team finally hit the field last night as they took on the University of York Lions in pre-season action. After going 0-8 in their first season back competing in the OUA, Carleton didn’t let last years results cloud this years expectations as they jumped out to an early lead against York.

A first half punt return TD electrified the sideline of the Ravens, and rewarded the team’s efforts to make special teams a priority this season. On defence, The Ravens looked sound holding York to 11 points, as York evaluated players at different positions.

An interesting storyline that has been developing since last season is who will be quarterbacking for the Ravens in 2014? Jesse Mills continues to look like the obvious choice to start, however, local product Nick Gorgichuck continues to impress with his confidence and command over the offence. Last night against York, Nick marched the team down the field, and capped off the drive throwing a perfectly placed ball in the corner of the North side end zone for the Touchdown. It will be interesting to see how this battle unfolds with only 7 days before their week one test against The University of Waterloo Warriors.

The final score was 53-11 for the Carleton Ravens.
