This fall, Leandre is completing his final season with CEGEP Division 1 team, Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars. Previous to the Cougars, the linebacker also suited up for Franco Cite Falcons of National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA).

With his addition, the Raven bolsters a couple of key areas of their game. Moreover, Leandre extends a Cougar pipeline with the Ravens organization.

ā€œGetting Smith makes us better in many areas but his pure speed will help us on special teams and on defense,ā€ commented Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah.Ā  ā€œHe flies around the field and is a solid tackler.ā€

ā€œWe are excited to add another Cougar to our program to follow a long list of great players from that storied program.ā€

For his part, proximity and reputation both played significant roles in Leandreā€™s decision.

ā€œI chose the Carleton Ravens because I have seen what theyā€™re all about,ā€ elaborated the Ottawa defensive standout.Ā  ā€œI always wanted to play in my hometown.ā€

ā€œI believe that the Ravens program is going to turn me into a good player. I already have former teammates on the Carleton side I can’t wait to step on the field with them.Ā  I committed to Carleton because thereā€™s no place like home.ā€
