Ravens LB commit has ‘a lot of respect’ for Carleton coaches

Carleton brings in an out-of-province commit to their Class of 2017.

Going to university is a chance to challenge yourself and Darlin Napoleon, a linebacker from Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy, is ready to take that step with the Carleton University Ravens.

ā€œI wanted something new and big and I wanted to go out of my comfort zone,ā€ Napoleon said. ā€œThe direction the program is going made a big impact on my decision.ā€

Going into its fifth year of revived existence, the Ravens have come a long way from the team that went without a win in its first season back in U Sports. Now poised to make noise in the playoffs, Napoleon has confidence that Carletonā€™s coaches will help the team to do great things.

ā€œI have a lot of respect for what Head Coach Sumarah and Coach Bechmanis are doing there. Building a program from scratch is not an easy thing to do. I know I am in good hands,ā€ Napoleon said. ā€œThey are great coaches and I believe they are going to take me to the next step in my game.ā€

ā€œDarlin is a very athletic linebacker who can play both in space and in the box,” Steve Sumarah said. “His aggressive nature allows him to be very physical in his game. We are excited to have our first CNDF player on our roster.ā€

Hailing from Longueil, QuĆ©bec, Napoleon played two years with Le Notre-Dame du CNDF (RSEQ Division 1) where he won a Bol dā€™Or this past season. Standing at 6ā€™0, 218lbs, he is interested in marketing and communication.

Driven by ambition and hard work, Napoleon is proud of his accomplishment. He said, ā€œGoing to Carleton represents the outcome of all the work Iā€™ve been putting in since I got in CNDF.ā€

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
