Ottawa, Ontario-On Monday September 2, 2013 the Carleton Ravens football team will resume play in the CIS and OUA after a 15 year absence.
Carleton will travel to London, Ontario on Labour Day, September 2 to take on the Western Mustangs at 7:00 PM to begin their 2013 OUA schedule.
The Ravens will hold their much anticipated home opener on Saturday, September 7 against the Waterloo Warriors. Game time is 1:00 PM.
“We are very excited about the start of the 2013 Football season,” said Jennifer Brenning, Director of Recreation & Athletics. “This will be the first time we have seen a Ravens football jersey on a Carleton student-athlete in 15 years, it is an historic day for the University.”
“We are very proud of our coaching staff on how they are building this program and look forward to seeing the team develop over the coming weeks for this inaugural season.”
Ravens head coach Steve Sumarah and his staff have been diligently at work building towards the opening of training camp and ultimately the first game of the new football era and season.
“With training camp underway and the season only days away the excitement is everywhere,” said Sumarah. “Watching the players and families arrive and seeing the energy and enthusiasm they have is very rewarding and exciting at the same time.
“This has been a long journey but as we get close to camp it is all worthwhile. The Old Crows and university should be commended on bringing football back to campus. It has brought so much energy and excitement to campus that I believe all of us are in the same boat – LETS GO RAVENS!”
