Ravens secure third CEGEP teammate

CEGEP receiver becomes newest recruit to join OUA team’s 2015 class.

The Carleton Ravens have landed a third teammate from a CEGEP Division 1 program.

On Tuesday, the team announced that Frederic Lamoureux has signed with the team.Β  The 6’2, 195 pound receiver will join the team for the 2015 OUA season.

Recently, Lamoureux completed his CEGEP career with Division 1 team, Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars. With his commitment, he becomes the third Cougar to join the Ravens.Β  The other Cougars that have signed with the team include CFC 100 defensive lineman Frederik Robitaille and defensive back/linebacker Guillaume Caron

β€œWe are very excited to have Fred join the Ravens he is an excellent student-athlete who will represent us very well in the future,” commented Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah.Β  β€œHe has good size and speed that can make him very challenging to cover.”

β€œHe also joins a strong contingent of other former Cougar players to our roster including Guillaume Caron and Fred Robitaille this year.”

For his part, Lamoureux it was a combination of both academics and football that sold him on the Ottawa, Ontario campus.

The following is a statement from Lamoureux about his commitment:

“After two month of reflection and negotiation with four teams, I finally choose Carleton University because they offer me what I looked for school program and football program. Carleton University is well known for its program of administration of business and I wish to continue to study in English. Something else which helped me to make my choice, it’s the help and school supervision that the team offers for their players.”

“For the football, Carleton University has a young football team, but head coach Sumarah and his coaches have the same goal that I have in mind and coach Sumarah shows it with the recruitment he does. The coaches see in me all the athletic potential which I have to offer. I think that they will get the best of the receiver that I am and it’s important for me to improve myself and be a part of that winning organization.”

“I had the opportunity to play for two winning teams. As a Laurentian Wildcats player of the ARFLL (Association rΓ©gionale de football Laurentides-LanaudiΓ¨re), I contribute to the victory of my midget team at the QMFL (Quebec midget football league) championship of 2011 and I was the MVP of the game. During my two years in the QMFL I was named best receiver of the league in 2010 and best QB of the league in 2011. With the Cougars of Champlain College, I was lucky enough to play when the team won the Bol d’or (Division 1 championship) in 2013. I feel like I’m a hidden card of the recruitment of 2015. I didn’t have the chance to show all my abilities during the last two seasons because I had an injury in the pre-season camp of 2013, so I was playing some game and other game I did not play. For the present year, I will be in perfect physical condition and I will give the best of myself for my coaches and my teammates.”

“Finally, let me say that football players have to make a big decision in this recruitment process. I’m proud of my decision to choose Carleton University where I expect to live a great life experience too. I’m proud to be a Raven! It’s the perfect fit.”
