RB Bell knows the value of education

Taz Bell has been frustrating opposing defences for four years and believes “that a running back is the heart of an offence.”

“It helps set the tone for the game, it opens up the passing game, tires the defence and helps control the clock,” he said. “I believe my athletic ability and work ethic separates me from other players at my position.”

Taz has represented the Clarke Road Trojans and the London Junior Mustangs during his career.

A major highlight for him was in 2015 when he competed for a provincial title as a member of the London Junior Mustangs.

Taz models his game after Arian Foster, who is a former NFL running back.

“He was a complete back that could catch, block and run the ball in all situations,” Taz said.

As for the recruitment process, it has gone well for him and he’s “been noticed by many Canadian universities and several American.”

Taz hasn’t committed to a school yet, but his top 3 choices are Western, Minot State and UBC.

He thinks he’ll be able to adjust at the next level because of “the training and development programs university athletes have.”

“I am working on gaining size and strength this off-season so that I can improve my blocking and meeting the man at the line of scrimmage,” he said.

Taz aims to make an impact when he enters the next phase of football.

“My personal expectation is to walk into a program and immediately help them improve as a true freshman any way I can,” Taz said.

The most influential people in his life are his family.

“My family has been supporting me throughout my career and have respected my decision to play this game,” he said. “I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be able to play this game and to have a chance to play at the next level, I wouldn’t be able to without them.”

In terms of his future plans, football is important but his top priority is to get a proper education.

“I would like to go to university to study Criminology and play football, if possible, at a Canadian or American university,” Taz said.

Football is significant to Taz for numerous reasons.

“Football to me is a great opportunity to help young men grow and understand the real world,” he said. “Football brings people together, gives you a goal to work for and teaches you about the commitment needed in your future careers.”
