Brayden Long started his career in with the Regina Minor Football Program. He played for the Eskimos, Bisons, Thunder, and Mustangs over the course of five years with the program.

In Grade 9 Brayden started playing with the Miller Marauders of the Regina Intercollegiate Football League (RIFL). He has played with the team for three seasons and has had no trouble collecting hardware as a member of the Marauders.

In Grade 9 he was the Marauders’ rookie of the year. In Grade 10 and 11 he was the team’s offensive MVP. He was recognized league-wide for his stellar play in Grade 10 when he was named the RIFL Stewart 3A safety of the year. In Grade 11 he was an all-star at the running back position.

In 2015, he played with Team Saskatchewan at the Red River Cup.

This season Brayden’s favourite moment came in the Marauders second match-up of the season against the Luther Lions. He ran the ball 60 plus yards for a touchdown. He said it was an awesome felling to celebrate in the endzone with the whole offence after such a fantastic play.

His father comes to all of his practices and games to support him and Brayden said both of his parents have been a tremendous help to him throughout his football career. He said he tries to model his game after Eddie Lacy of the Green Bay Packers because of his powerful running style.

While Brayden is unsure of where he wants to go to university he is certain that he wants to attend a post-secondary institution. Whatever he chooses, has already proved he has an eye for business This year he and his friends started Auntie Anne’s Perogies as a class project and sold over 150 orders.

He has been enjoying the recruitment process so far and is looking forward to deciding where he will play football after he graduates from high school.

“I have tried my best to get my name out there by trying out and playing on multiple teams and going to camps and combines,” said Brayden.

He has been working out twice a day this offseason to ensure he will be ready for his Grade 12 year. He goes to the gym for an hour at lunch and again after school. He works on his speed by running sprints at Douglas Park Hill.
